Prudent
financial planning and investment advice may require a thorough
understanding of your short and long-term goals. Clear consideration
of your current financial situation and a real appreciation for
your risk tolerance and financial time horizon may also be essential.
Once we have worked together to identify and agree upon these unique
financial dynamics, we can then decide how to craft a financial
plan and investment strategy that will help pursue your needs.
The diagram below outlines the financial planning and investment
process^ Shaun M. Black, uses with many of his investment clients.
Clicking on each section will take you to a brief description of
each step in the process.

THE FINANCIAL PLANNING AND INVESTMENT
PROCESS ^

Step 1: An Introductory
Meeting to Get to Know Each Other
Come in for a complementary introductory meeting. During
this session we will take some time to get to know each other one-on-one
and hopefully I'll have a good understanding for what you are looking
for in an investment advisor, and you'll get a feel for my investment
philosophy and strategic approach. If we both agree that we'd be
a good fit for each other, we'll schedule a follow-up appointment
and I'll let you know what information you'll need to bring to our
next meeting.
Step 2: Determine Goals and
Gather Necessary Financial Data
It is during our second meeting that you and I will sit down and
identify the specific and prioritized goals you want to pursue
with your investments such as, saving for retirement, saving for
college, deferring taxes, risk management, passing on an inheritance,
etc. Additionally we will discuss your risk tolerance and financial
time horizon. We'll also review your current financial situation
with respect to income, expenses, savings, debt, current investments,
insurance, family dynamics and so on.
Step 3: Analyze and
Evaluate the Data
Once we've gathered all of the pertinent financial and
personal information, I'll be able to accurately analyze where you
are at currently and where you want to be in the future. We'll be
able to determine whether your existing goals are feasible, given
your present situation, or if a more realistic reassessment
is needed.
Step 4: Develop and Present
the Plan for Your Approval
After assessing your situation I will design a set of recommended
strategies tailored to your unique circumstances and goals. Once
my plan is complete, I will present it to you for review, adjustments,
and/or approval.
Step 5: Implement the Investment
Plan^
It's not enough to just come up with a good plan, we also need to
implement it. Whether its opening a brokerage account, setting up
an IRA, establishing a 529 education account, or applying for life
insurance, I will walk you through each step in process and keep
you up to date on our progress.
Step 6: Monitor and
Adjust Your Plan as Needed
Financial planning is not a one time event, it is an ongoing
process. What may have been a good mutual fund, annuity, or insurance
policy in the past, may no longer match your changing financial
circumstances or current market dynamics. We'll discuss your options
for ongoing guidance and analysis.
